Umeå Airport is the seventh-largest airport in Sweden and handles approximately 1 million passengers annually. It is uniquely located on the southern outskirts of the city and is in close proximity to the centre of Umeå.
Officially inaugurated in May 1962, the airport had its first flight in 1961. Since then, it has had numerous renovations and has continued to develop in terms of both buildings and increases in passenger numbers. More and more airlines are choosing to operate at Umeå. The airport terminal was completely renovated in 2008.

Here you can also buy face masks which are also available for purchase at the Information desk. Located near Security, the restaurant stays closed on Saturdays and provides Breakfast, lunch and à la carte menu. You can also access the free WiFi available. There are multiple facilities provided to conduct smooth meetings at the airport itself. The cockpit is a fully equipped conference room for two to six people and the Cessna is a training and conference room which fits eight to twelve participants.
The runway length is 2,302 meters and the airport directly and indirectly employs around 500 people in about fifteen companies. Swedavia owns and operates Umeå Airport and the organization is conscious about the environmental impact of aviation. It works dedicatedly towards reducing its environmental impact under the ISO 14001 environmental management system. Umeå Airport was declared to be the first airport in the country to be environmentally certified in 1999. By reducing greenhouse gases and other emissions to the air, reducing discharges to waterways and minimizing the use of chemicals and the production of waste, the airport works in a sustainable way.
