Basilique de Valère

Basilique de Valère is one of the most significant and famous landmarks in Sion. This historical church is also known as the Valère Castle and is located opposite another landmark, the Chateau de Tourbillon. Basilique de Valère is an important heritage site of Switzerland and people from all over the world come to pay their respects in this church. The first part of the church, which is Notre-Dame de Valère, was built back in 1130. Later, Gothic architecture was added to the church's architecture. The church was last renovated in 1954. This church is the right place for all history-lovers and if you visit Sion, Switzerland, you should definitely visit this landmark.

Château de Tourbillon

The Tourbillon Castle was built between the 11th-12th centuries. The Castle is located at the top of a hill which lies opposite to the Basilique de Valère. However, the castle was ruined due to a fire in 1788. After that, in the nineteenth century, the castle was declared a national heritage site. The castle is surrounded by nature, which amplifies the beauty of the place. So, if you are someone who likes to visit historical monuments, then this place might prove to be your favourite!
